OUR STORY
DeRhodes Construction is a licensed design-build firm serving the Greater Charlotte Area by helping individuals and families improve their spaces so they can thrive in them.
Eddie DeRhodes founded the company over 20 years ago on two guiding principles: commitment to customer satisfaction and attention to project details. This has yielded a trustworthy brand known for its superior quality of workmanship, effective client communication, and outstanding client satisfaction as evidenced by referrals and repeat clients.
In January 2022, Jason and Lindsey deBuhr became the new owners and are transitioning with Eddie to continue to carry on these same commitments.
The deBuhrs were drawn to DeRhodes Construction because they connect with Eddie’s values and vision. “Do what you say you’re going to do and be fair about it and everything will work itself out,” Eddie says. He knows what it takes to be an excellent contractor and how to deliver exceptional service and care to clients and business partners.
The deBuhrs, with their construction management and marketing backgrounds, have a natural bend to the industry as well as an affinity for Eddie. “What he does and the way he does it really resonated with us. We feel very strongly that his company is how we want our company to be. It starts with shared values, a shared commitment to the customer, quality, and doing things the right way.”
The DeRhodes Construction name will remain as it is defined by quality and integrity – Eddie’s legacy that the deBuhrs desire to continue. Having been a part of the Charlotte community for over 20 years, keeping DeRhodes Construction as a thriving, transformational business gives Jason and Lindsey a tangible way to continue to invest here.
“We get so excited to help people transform their spaces. Renovation brings hope – it feels like renewal. You see the old being made new: valuing what’s been there and helping it be the best it can be. We love helping people create a place they can thrive in!”
What is design-build?
You may have a great idea for a remodel project in your home, but need help developing specifics or understanding how it could practically fit together. The process can be overwhelming if you haven’t done it before. Changing the deck on the back of the house to an addition to have more family space is a great idea! However, there are MANY components that go into making such a project a reality, and a detailed remodeling plan is essential for the project’s success.
As a design-build firm we can help you figure out all the pieces that you need to complete your remodeling projects. We will listen to your ideas and needs, investigate your current space, and help you think through and plan a great plan.
Plan the plan –> work the plan = save time and money!
Eddie always says every project has some “uncover and discover” – meaning you don’t always know what you’re going to discover when you start uncovering an area once demolition starts. The key is communication with you (the client), business partners, and our team, to accomplish your vision. We will figure out what we need do to make sure you are satisfied and excited.
What can I expect?
Treating all people (clients, vendors, laborers) with value and respect is an essential component of doing quality business. We are interested in everyone as individuals and not just for the job they are hired to do or are hiring us to do.
Our goal as we are invited into someone’s home to renovate their space is to establish a solid relationship of like, trust, and positivity, so much so that at the end of the remodeling project we feel like “new friends” whom we could go out for pizza with.
Contact Us
Send us a note by clicking here and tell us about your project. We will connect with you via email or phone to hear more about your space and ideas. We want to understand things like: your project ideas, what area of Charlotte you are in, if you have any drawings of your plan, and an idea of your budget and timeframe.
Site Visit
Once we determine we are a good fit for each other based on our initial conversations, we will come to your home to meet you and see your space. We can discuss your project and scope of work onsite together. This provides all of us with a clearer picture and helps determine the next steps.
Make a Plan
It is critical to have a good plan. One of our mottos is “plan the plan, work the plan, save time and money” for everyone. Sometimes a plan is simply defining the scope of work, but it may even need to include a drawing and/or engineering. We can help you make a good plan that meets all of your needs and wants.
“Career Day”
With a clearly defined plan, we can build a detailed estimate for your project. We do this by hosting a “Career Day” at your project site where we invite all of our trades and business partners to the site, discuss the project together, and allow them to gather the information they need to give us their best estimates for the work to complete your project. Their feedback and perspective are invaluable. We leverage their knowledge and skill as we work together to build your estimate.
Agreement and Start
After agreeing upon the details of the estimate, we can transfer it over to our contractor and then begin your project. “Staying started” is a high value of ours, so we work hard to plan backwards from supplier deliverables to keep your project progressing.
Remodeling a space is messy, disruptive, and inconvenient, but seeing the completed end result makes it all worth it! We look forward to celebrating the project’s completion with you!
Who will be working in my home?
We believe in forming partnerships with our trades and suppliers. Our trades are skilled experts at their crafts who aim for excellence in what they do. Our suppliers provide boutique customer experiences and will work with you to select products that are just right for your style and project. Partnering together with these small business owners and crafts people mean you have the full benefit of this larger team to make your project come to life with attention given to you and the details of your space.
Helping people thrive
“Thriving business, thriving people, thriving community” is our vision statement.
What does that mean?
A thriving business means being diversified and resilient in challenging times.
Thriving people means communicating with clarity and care while providing opportunities for development, growth, and fun!
A thriving community has two parts: our clients and our business partners. We help our clients invest well in their families and their homes. We help our partners work toward growth, development, and forward momentum for their own businesses.
Our purpose is to be consultative. That means we will really listen to you and help figure out the best version of what you want in the remodeling project you are hiring us to create.
We will focus on having all of the customer experiences be beneficial. We realize in order to build that kind of relationship, it requires being transparent, available, trustworthy, and likeable, creating a positive affinity.

Jason
- Intentional
- Strategic Planner
- Progress Champion
- Problem Solver
Lindsey describes Jason’s strengths this way: he has a strategic eye to fly at 40,000 feet, see the big picture, and not get stuck in the weeds. His forward thinking will keep us moving in a positive, growing direction while hedging off potential threats.
He is excellent at planning for what’s coming and being able to work out what’s best for everyone – being able to move forward in the healthiest way possible. He is so good at thinking outside the box.
Jason: “I will concentrate on how to get things done in practical ways, how to work the most efficiently and effectively. It’s like playing chess, not checkers, by figuring out the moves three to four steps ahead. Well-planned jobs benefit everyone. Each project will be well thought out. We will be intentional in doing what we say we’re going to do.”
Lindsey
- Connector
- Perspective
- Translator
- Advocate
Jason describes Lindsey’s strengths this way: she sees people, easily connects with them, and builds connections on a superpower level. Lindsey: “I get fully excited about a project because I want the end result to be great! I’m the bridge between the project starting and all that happens until the completion
“I’m the energy, the excitement, the positivity, the advocate. I will keep you encouraged! I will be the translator between the homeowner and the construction crew, so that everyone feels good about the project the whole time.”

We are different from each other, but we definitely complement each other, which is why we believe we can do this together.
